Playrooms Mouse and Controller Issues: Drift, Invert Y and Steam Deck
Check developer-confirmed sensitivity and controller changes, and separate a Steam Deck drift report from verified compatibility claims.
What should you try if mouse movement feels uncontrollable?
Lower the mouse sensitivity in Settings. The developer says sensitivity is not meant to create a movement challenge and recommends reducing it. If the camera still moves without input, report that as drift rather than assuming that every control problem is simply sensitivity set too high.
The developer asks for specific details: whether the camera moves alone, whether the character moves in an unpressed direction, and whether a gamepad is connected. Official reply, November 2.
A useful comparison is whether the problem occurs during deliberate mouse movement or while you are giving no input. That description makes a report clearer; it is not a diagnosis of your hardware.
Which controller and inversion changes are confirmed?
The October 20 demo patch added Y-axis inversion and corrected several controller interactions. These include directional-pad input, opening dropdowns, reaching Reset/Apply/Exit, selecting a mode and accessing Balli’s tips. Update the demo before concluding that a launch-week menu-navigation problem still affects your installed build.
The same notes identify the left stick for the whiteboard pointer. They do not provide a complete controller button chart for every device. Use the current prompts rather than substituting a guessed Xbox or PlayStation layout. Official patch notes.
For sprint or crouch failing before unlock, use the movement-permission guide instead.
Is the Steam Deck drift problem confirmed as fixed?
No fix is verified here. One player reported that the demo ran on their Steam Deck but the camera drifted toward the lower-left corner. No developer solution appears in that thread’s captured replies. That is a useful compatibility warning, not a benchmark or a finding that every Deck behaves identically.
Original Steam Deck test report.
Do not infer Valve verification, a tested Proton version, suitable deadzone values or a frame-rate target from that report. The platform-support reference explains what the Windows listing actually establishes.
What should a useful input bug report include?
Include your input device, current demo version, whether other controllers are connected, and the exact action that fails. If the problem is menu-specific, identify the menu and button. For drift, explain whether it affects the view or character movement while you are not touching controls.
For a separate pickup/deposit misunderstanding, check how to drop balls first. Checked November 2, 2026; no custom controller profile or handheld benchmark is claimed.
